Living in Yorkshire the landscape is rich with ideas. I love the many simple and varied shapes that are silhouetted in the hedgerows and along the towpaths, from the long, swaying grasses to the sculptural forms of Cow Parsley and Hog weed. All of these forms translate well into metal and therefore jewellery. Hand forged wire quickly takes on the form of the tall waving grasses. Texture and pattern is added by stamping, etching and melting or reticulation. I like to keep the forms fairly simple and linear without too much embellishment as I feel the shapes are sculptural enough. These designs have led to a series of free moving pendants and from these I have developed the range to include earrings, bangles and brooch pins.
